JmanCW: Due to construction in this area I have been unable to even get back to this cache. I imagine that it was probably destroyed anyway. Therefore I must regretably archive it.

Geocache Description:

Freedom Park has a rich historical background dating back to the 1650's.

Just of the trail - no bushwacking required.

This 689-acre park, opened in September 2002, includes an entrance road, open meadow, parking, mountain bike and hiking trails, an 18th century graveyard and the Williamsburg Botanical "Ellipse Garden".

The Division continues to work diligently to preserve one of the nation's earliest Free Black Settlements in America (1803), the Revolutionary War Battle of Spenser's Ordinary (1781), and most recently, the discovery of a 17th century domicile that is revealing much archaeological research of the early colonial period (1680-1730).
