Tramper Ted: Apologies, didn't get to check this one when in Auckland over Christmas, so probably best to archive it.

Geocache Description:

Another in the series of historic Auckland buildings.
Designed to be a 'suit'-able cache (can be done on the way to meetings).

Auckland's Railway Station was a city landmark from the time it was opened in 1930. This grand architectural statement in brick and mortar harks back to a time when rail provided the British Empire with its key communication lines.

The building's interior is every bit as impressive as its powerful facade. Spaces of imposing proportions offer up beautifully-crafted details such as marble corinthian columns, vaulted ceilings and terrazzo flooring.

In 1999, the Railway Station was refurbished to start a new life as The Railway Campus, a provider of stylish apartment accommodation tailored to the needs of the broader communities of The University of Auckland and other tertiary training institutions.

Best done at the weekend as parking is difficult during the week. Fairly high muggle factor so be sneaky. Great place to visit and bring your lunch as well.
