Geocache Description:

This is my first cache. It is called Wintergreen Still because the 1858 map of Ulster County has 2 buildings marked for this area and Wintergreen Still is written next to them. The Ellenville Public Library has a copy of this map on the wall that you can view. Years ago they took the leaves of the Wintergreen plant and fermented them in water for a few days and distilled them to get the oil of Wintergreen.

The cache is just off the road. It is a dirt road that is only seasonally maintained (not plowed in the winter) If you can’t get up the road the round trip hike is just over a mile. The terrain rating would go up then.

If you are interested in Bench Marks there is one nearby (LY0057) at N41 52.924 W074 21.145

The cache is a small plastic jar covered in camo duct tape. It contains a logbook and pencils and small trade items. It has a GW Gold Dollar for FTF. The cache is near a campsite and parking area, so at certain times there could be muggles around. Hunters are also around during hunting seasons.
