Dieser Cache soll das private Engagement von Andreas Bartsch würdigen und bekannter machen. Näheres dazu unter (visit link) wo man Führungen mit fundiertem Hintergrundwissen, Fotos aus der Zeit und vieles mehr bekommen kann.
Sobald die Strecke nicht mehr asphaltiert ist, darf und kann der Wanderweg NICHT mehr verlassen werden, er befindet sich sehr häufig auf Privatgrund (auch wenn es nicht zu sehen ist) und zählt als still geduldet. Bitte stellt jene Geduld nicht unnötig auf die Probe. Abseits des Weges ist tabu und wird für den Cache definitiv nicht benötigt!!! Der nichtasphaltierte Teil ist nicht Mountainbike tauglich!
Der deutsche Teil wird bei einigen "Paperless-Cache-Programmen" nicht vollständig unterstützt, da die Aufgaben bei den Wegpunkten dabei stehen. Bitte vorher überprüfen! Bei Ausdrucken vorher auf "Show Hidden Waypoints" klicken!
Was leider nie in Vergessenheit geraten sollte, ging fast verloren: Das Elbtal ist eines der größten Steinbruchgebiete der Vergangenheit gewesen. Durch seine guten Transportmöglichkeiten wurde der Sandstein weltweit verschifft. Nicht immer stand der Fels so säulenartig zurückgesetzt, daß ist das Werk jahrhundertelanger Arbeit der Steinbrecher und Hohlmacher. Ganze Bergteile wurden komplett abgetragen um woanders als Baustoff genutzt zu werden. Nur wenige Stellen sind noch original erhalten, wo der Fels noch abgestuft bis zum Fluß hin abfällt...
"Die Steinbrucharbeiter erheben folgende Forderungen: Herabsetzung der Arbeitszeit, so dass künftig von früh 6 Uhr bis abends 7 Uhr gearbeitet werden sollte, bei Pausenzeiten, wie sie die Steinmetzen gefordert haben. Die Löhne sollen wie folgt heraufgesetzt werden: für Hohlmacher von 16 bis 17 auf 20 Pfennige je Stunde, für „einen Stein in gefallenem Zustand“ von 5 auf 6 Mark, für den „Stockstein“ von 5 auf 7 Mark." (aus PA, 8.4.1884)
Um die großen Platten herauszubrechen wurde Fels in den Schichtfugen hohl gemacht und mit Holz abgestützt. Auf die Holzstempel wurden Tonscherben gelegt, um anzuzeigen, wenn die Felsplatte sich zu lösen begann. Dann wurden die Hölzer abgebrannt und die Platte fiel in ein vorbereitetes Schotterbett und wurde dann weiter zersägt, gespalten und auf Aufzügen (früher Rutschen) ins Tal befördert. In der folgenden Tabelle ist nicht nach Rutschen oder Bremsbergen unterschieden! Soviel in Kurzform, es soll ja schließlich die Wissbegierde steigern und die Neugier wecken auf eine Führung von und mit Andreas...
An Startkoordinaten ist nur noch eine Sitzbank, wo man zB. Inliner anziehen kann. Bitte nutzt die Parkkoordinaten in den Wegpunkten. Der ursprüngliche kleine Parkplatz an den Startkoordinaten ist inzwischen mit Halteverbot belegt worden. Ab der Bank sollte man mit Skatern losziehen und einen Rucksack mit Wanderschuhen dabei haben, um zwischen beiden Ausrüstungen wechseln zu können.
Was nun an Punkten folgt, ist etwas viel geworden, aber es soll schließlich auch die Nichtmuseumsbesucher hinterm PC hervor vorlocken und die Strecke ist mit 12km dezent wanderverdächtig, somit lockert es die Sache bißchen auf. Außerdem habe ich versprechen müssen, euch auf dem Weg zu halten.

If you are not more one the street, the it is not possible to leave the trail. It is a lot time on private areas (also when you can’t discover it), but it is still allowed to use this way. Please take care and stay one the trail! It is not necessary to leave the trail to find this hidden place. The trail after the street is not possible for mountain bikes!
What never fall in oblivion get nearly lost. The Elbe-valley was once of the biggest quarry areas of the history. With cargo ships gets the sandstone everywhere in the world. Not any time was the rock like column in the background. This it’s a result from years of work from the stone breakers and hollow maker. Complete rocks disappeared and was used in different areas as building-material.
Only some rarely areas are not original, in this areas get the rock in little steps down to the river…
The quarry workers demand: decrease the work time from 6am to 7pm with break times like the stonemasons has demand. They claim for the hollow makers from 16 to 17 penny (Pfennig) per hour to 20 penny (Pfennig) per hour, for a stone in falling state from 5 to 6 Mark, and a “Stockstein” from 5 to 7Mark.” (aus PA, 8.4.1884)
To break out the big flag they make the rock hollow in the joint layer and shore up with wood. Between wood and rock they put clay fragments, to watch when the flag get lose. Then they burn out the wood and the flag felt down in a gravel bed and get saw, splitted and with lifts (earlier slides) down to the river.

On start coordinates you find a point to take a rest and change boots. Originally here was a parking area. Please use the parking koordinates from waypoints now. Out from startpoint is good to have inline skates and a backpack with hiking boots, to swap the equipment. The complete trail is 12km.

POS13 (number) N 50° 57.244 E 014° 01.302 Time for a lunch break, you finished the first part and now it get up. Take a look an the quarry number and from now watch for the (patent marked) stone breaker sandstone picture. Remember you on it, then now you must follow it. Please get after the ascent not close to rocks. To close is dangerous! After the vista point “Wilkeaussicht” be carefully you have some crevasse from a cave (called “Schwedenhöhle”) on the way. You find also old rails and 60m after this lift you can see 2 gate-columns. When you pass the fenced area you can see more of this “gate-columns”. How many big you will find?
POS16 (entrance quarry) N 50° 56.900 E 014° 00.660 You can take a look in a quarry – is interesting but I didn’t use, because it is a company area and it is possible that is get back in work. You can pass this area outside on the river side very easily. Watch for the new stones close to the trail.

Follow the trail and if you find the information table about Pol Cassel, the you pass the descent 20m. When you step down, then will see the work of art fully. I was real surprised how good is preserved. Follow the stone breaker sandstone picture to next slide area.

Follow the way through estate from the old forge. Pass the building and get directly on the building the stairs same steps up. Close to the backside from this building get left and follow the trail. Then follow the trail to 2 lifts, then turn right (river in your backside) and get the (nearly hidden) way between the buildings around the building (what is placed more river down) and follow the stone breaker sandstone picture...

Now you pass another old slide area and the you get down the stair to the street (it’s dangerous in the winter!).
