This cache got its name from the novel, “The Borrowers” written by Mary Norton. The story is about tiny people who "borrow" things from normal humans and keep their existence unknown. It has been made into 2 movies that follow the story quite closely.
Mrs. 52’s reading class read the novel this year. One of the assignments was to “borrow” items and make a house like the borrowers might have made. This assignment led to the creation of this cache.
The students were introduced to geocaching and travel bugs with the help of runawaylu (runawaylu & dan). The class decided to make a cache which I agreed to hide. We “borrowed” the container, 2 travel bugs, and a geocoin from runawaylu. Each student was asked to “borrow” an item from home to place in the cache. They were also required to tell how the borrowers might use that item. Their items are in a plastic bag in the cache container. Other items have been added to the cache for “human beans” to “borrow”.
Please enjoy the cache and read the book if you can find the time. Published in 1952, it won the Carnegie Medal for that year, and was selected in 2007 by judges of the CILIP Carnegie Medal for children's literature as one of the ten most important children's novels of the past 70 years.
