Geocache Description:

Micro cache hidden on the Civil War Trail

During the civil war the Union Troops known as “Smith’s Guerrillas”, embarked on naval gunboats and army transports. They made a 25 mile trip by boat from Dauphin Island up Weeks Bay to this location at the Mouth of Fish River on March 19.

The troops anchored for the night here to set sail for seven more miles up the crooked, narrow, and dark river the next morning. One soldier dubbed Fish River as “the father of crooks”.
