The Pipes, the Pipes Are Calling Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

arcs: Forces seem to have taken over the cache spot. I don't get to Deer Lake anymore seeing as I've retired so it's time to pull the pin. It was a great spot. Hopefully the area can be used for somebody else's cache. Cheers

Geocache Description:

Deer Lake needs a cache and I think this is a good place for it. The powerplant has a long, interesting history. A nice walk to a great view. One of my dwindling supply of favourite FTF prizes is waiting.

There are numerous ways to get to the cache site. ATV trails, walking paths etc. The easiest is up Main Dam Road to the gate and follow the gravel road/path to the cache. It is generally closed to vehicles but there is no gate for pedestrians. No swimming near the cache due to strong currents. A nice couple I met said there are trout and freshwater salmon in the stream. It SHOULD be winter friendly if there isn't too much snow. But, in that case, just getting to the cache will be a bigger problem than finding it. A plastic peanut butter container holds a few trade items. Bug dope is a good idea during the season.
