Short hike (0.45 mile) from the trail head, easy hike with a few nice bridges, and a good view of Gerle Creek from the cache. Highly recommended excursion if camping with children.
Annual camping trip and unofficial Maher family reunion. We have 'cached-out' Gerle Creek and decided to place a cache for others.
Major kudos to McKensie & Samantha (and Tracy) for adventuring cross-country to place the cache. The boys wanted 'No Gerles Allowed' as the cache name but they were over ruled when they were too busy playing to actually place the cache. Taking the direct route from camp (0.25 miles), we forded the stream and found the perfect spot. To avoid wet feet and more bruises, we followed the trail back to camp - longer but safer.
