Geocache Description:

A flat micro, but maybe not the easiest one to get to…

This cache is near a nice spot on a trail that skirts the foot of the mountain and runs along the side of the Connecticut River. You get a nice view of the West River Marina near the cache site.

Closest parking is at the Chesterfield trailhead at the end of Mountain Road off Route 9. Take the trail through the gate. You will go farther than your GPSr wants you to, but you will come to a trail on the left (see trail junction waypoint). Follow that -- no need to bushwhack (unless you want to) -- then take a trail to the right that will bring you to the cache zone.

You can also park at the Hinsdale trailhead for Mt Wantastiquet, on Mountain Road from Route 119. Take the trail that starts to the left, eventually a trail to the right and another trail to the right will take you to the cache. No need to bushwhack (unless you want to.)

Check out the view, then start looking in the woods to the south of the view. Should be a quick find.

Rubisco42 was inspired to hide this cache here on a field trip with the Austine summer camp crew. "The hike/bike up to it is awesome and easy, not too long." The cache used to be at the foot of a power pole, hence the name. The poles are now gone so the hide is no longer foot-related! BevanQ adopted this cache in March 2010.
