Geocache Description:

Cache is a regular tab lock box with the usual assortment of trinkets and a geocaching keyring for FTF.

The cache is located just outside the Templecorran ruins and graveyard in the small village of Ballycarry.

The ruins are the remains of one of the earliest Presbyterian churches in Ireland, and house the remains of the Irelands first Presbyterian Minister, the Rev. Edward Brice.

It also contains an ornate memorial to James Orr, the Bard of Ballycarry, foremost of the Ulster Weaver Poets and a contemporary of Robert Burns.

The title for the cache itself comes from local folklore, which has it that the attendance at the local Church of Ireland services were so low due to the majority of the community being Scots and Presbyterian, that the Dean, Jonathan Swift began one of his sermons with the words "Dearly beloved Roger...", Roger being his manservant.

The area still values of its Scots heritage, with the annual Broadisland Gathering festival being held every every year to celebrate all things Ulster Scots.
