The cache is an easy find located in a cemetery in the town of Warsaw, Ontario. Terrain difficulty only applies if you park outside the cemetery and walk. You can drive to within approx. 20 metres of the cache. Please respect the cemetery and don't be too noisy up there and please do not take bicycles on the grass. PLEASE DO NOT climb any fences. It is not necessary to do so to find the cache. Thanks!
The cache is a sandwich sized tupperware style container. Initially, it contained a log book and some natural polished stones.
Have a look around the town. If you're interested in local history, the fire hall (next to the LCB0) in Warsaw used to be a public school. The stone building down the hill from the cemetery used to be a school also. A hundred years ago Warsaw was home to at least one flour mill, hence the mill pond below, and at one time the town was larger than the city of Peterborough. The stone apartment building at the south end of Church Street was a hotel over 100 years ago and the upholstery business was a coach depot and then a bus station until recently. The park behind the LCBO and the fire hall was a stabling yard for horses in the 1800's and early 1900's.
The body of water you are overlooking is part of the Indian River.
It's a quiet area but people do walk their dogs up there and cemetery staff often work on the grounds, so be careful. You'll look very obvious if you get caught!
UPDATE: July 25 2023. The cache was missing for a few months! Sincere apologies to those seekers who did not find the cache. It is back in place as of today and I will keep a closer eye on it.
