Geocache Description:

This is a small cache located by one of the trails that lead towards the Bernard Creek Trail. The trail is really the going down road for coming out of Bernard Creek as it can be a bit steep and washed out at times. The view is superb and the hide is quite easy. The area has been changed quite a bit due to the massive floods last fall, but the scenery is still majestic. In early spring, the Bernard Creek trail may be wet and make the ride in somewhat on the adventurous side. This trail can easily be hiked, but makes for a very enjoyable ATV trip.

You can park down by the lodge, or near the runway or on the access road which leads to the trailhead. The entire trail to the end and back should provide a good all day ride.

I have listed several waypoints to aid in finding the trail and the people over at the Lodge are very friendly and helpful if you need directions. If you travel past the waypoint for the trail about 1/4 mile you will cross another path which doubles back and will lead you easily to the trailhead waypoint for the Bernard Creek trail and allow you to approach the cache from the uphill side. Take the time and ride the entire trail and grab the cache on the way out. You will get to enjoy the view and the hide better as there is no real place to park off the trail at ground zero.

Come see how the area has reshaped itself and discover Eastern Alaska again or for the first time.

Cache On!
