Easy access and flat terrain, except in winter.
We found this area while out on a hike after moving into our new home just south of Mount Shasta. The turnaround for our trek was at Mott Airport which is why the cache is named as it is. The cache can be approached from 2 directions. The southern route will require a high clearance or offroad vehicle. The other is nearly a drive up. If you look closely enough you can see a number of transitions in the area. The most obvious is the transition from pavement to dirt, which happens to be popular offroad trail for ATVs. Secondly, there is some nostalgia from the past, namely a piece of Old 99 that you will walk upon on your way to the cache. Last you may recognize part of the future with a new land developement in progress. The cache container is a Medium sized plastic jar painted to blend in, and to start the ball rolling, it is filled with a number of trade items, a couple of Tracking Items, a log and FTF pin for the winner of the race. The cache is well concealed/camo'd. The difficulty and terrain ratings are based on spring, summer and fall conditions. The cache may or may not be accessible in winter.
