Estany d'Ivars i de Vila-sana Multi-Cache

L'Estany d'Ivars i de Vila-sana, situat al Pla d'Urgell, havia estat el llac natural més gran de Catalunya fins l'any 1951, quan va ser dessecat per a conrear-ne el fons. Era usual veure-hi caçadors, pescadors d'anguiles i gent de pobles propers passejant-hi en barca. Recentment ha estat recuperat com a espai natural i podem tornar a gaudir dels seus paisatges i de la tranquil·litat que encomana.

Si hem de triar una època de l'any per a visitar-lo segurament la millor seria la primavera, quan tota la vida que conté sorgeix després del dur hivern d'aquest pla, quan la boira tant hi abunda i les glaçades no són extranyes, i si hem de triar una hora del dia el millor moment és al capvespre, quan es produeixen uns tons molt agradables per a la vista.

Per a arribar-hi tenim diverses opcions, ja que disposem de dos pàrquings que ens aniran igual de bé. Si venim de lluny possiblement la millor opció és arribar-hi per l'autovia A-2 i sortir-ne a Bellpuig, aleshores dirigir-se cap a Ivars d'Urgell i agafar allà la carretera cap a Vila-sana. Des de Vila-sana també hi podem arribar, i en qualsevol dels casos l'estany està ben indicat.

Les coordenades dels pàrquings són:

• Vila-sana: N 41º40.924, E 000º56.119

• Ivars d'Urgell: N 41º40.710, E 000º57.460

Haurem de passar per 4 waypoints parcials i aleshores dirigir-nos a unes coordenades finals on trobarem el catxé. Si hem aparcat al costat de Vila-Sana, seguirem l'ordre WP1, WP2, WP3, WP4, i si hem aparcat a la banda d'Ivars ho farem en l'ordre invers, WP4, WP3, WP2, WP1. En qualsevol dels dos casos passarem aprop de les coordenades finals tornant cap al punt de partida. Entre anar i tornar farem uns 5 quilòmetres per terreny pla.

• WP1: N 41º40.912, E 000º56.340 Ens trobem davant d'una torre d'observació des de dalt de la qual obtenim una bona panoràmica. Hem de buscar la seva capacitat màxima, que serà A*2

• WP2: N 41º40.727, E 000º56.208 Aquí veiem un cert nombre B de postes blaus, que serveixen per regular l'aigua que hi entra.

• WP3: N 41º40.760, E 000º57.112 Ara som a un mirador i hem de contar el nombre de pals travessers del sostre, la suma de les xifres del qual serà C.

• WP4: N 41º40.800, E 000º57.405 Trobem els 2 pals de la foto, on hi ha un any marcat, aleshores D és la suma de les seves xifres.

Cal comentar que degut a la vegetació dels voltants del catxé, quan és seca, sobretot cap a l'estiu, són recomanables uns pantalons llargs.

The Estany d'Ivars i de Vila-sana (Ivars and Vila-sana Lake), located in the Pla d'Urgell county, was the largest natural lake in Catalonia until 1951, when it was dried up in order to cultivate its bottom. It was usual to see hunters, eel fishers and people from near villages in a boat there. Recently it has been flooded again and it has been recovered as a natural wildlife reserve and we can enjoy again of its scenery and of the tranquillity that it spreads.

If we must choose a season to go, probably the best is at spring, when all its life rise after the hard winter of this plane, when there is plentiful of fog and frosts are not rare, and if we must choose a moment of the day the best is at dusk, when there are very pleasant shades for our eyes.

In order to arrive there we have many options, as there are two valid parkings. If we go from far probably the best option is go through the A-2 highway until Bellpuig, then go to Ivars d'Urgell and there take a road to Vila-sana. From Vila-sana we also can go to the lake, and in every option it is well signposted.

Parking coordinates are:

• Vila-sana: N 41º40.924, E 000º56.119

• Ivars d'Urgell: N 41º40.710, E 000º57.460

We must pass for 4 partial waypoints and then go to the final coordinates where the cache is. If we have parked at Vila-sana side, we will follow the WP1, WP2, WP3, WP4 order, and if we have parked in the Ivarsside we will follow the opposite order, WP4, WP3, WP2, WP1. Whatever order we take, we will pass near the final coordinates where the cache is in the return to the initial point. We will walk about 5 kilometers for a flat terrain.

• WP1: N 41º40.912, E 000º56.340 We are in front of a obervation tower from witch we have good views. We must look for its maximum capacity, that will be A*2

• WP2: N 41º40.727, E 000º56.208 Here we can see some B number of blue poles, that control the water that gets in.

• WP3: N 41º40.760, E 000º57.112 Now we are at a viewpoint and we must count the number of crossed sticks of the roof, and the addition of its numbers will be C.

• WP4: N 41º40.800, E 000º57.405 We are in front of the 2 poles of thw foto, where there is a year written, then D is the addition of its numbers.

Becaus of the vegetation in the surroundings of the cache, when it is dried, mostly at summer, long trousers are recommended.
