Geocache Description:

Sandy Point

Welcome to Sandy Point.

This attractive 1873 lighthouse is uniquely located on a crib at the east side of the entrance to Shelburne Harbour. At low tide the light is accessible on foot across a sand-bar. The former control building for the lighthouse has been rebuilt as a community hall, where there is a gift shop and canteen. Staff at the hall are happy to tell visitors about the history of the lighthouse and its keepers. From the beach, watch fishing boats and container ships travelling in and out of the busy harbour. Sandy Point is also an excellent spot to view feeding seabirds and glorious sunsets.

You can walk up to the lighthouse at low tide, but it is not open to public.

This route goes a-Round the coast on a very scenic view.

There are no services on this route but you are not far from the town of Shelburne. Please be careful on this road as there are a few bumps and sharp curves.  Enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way! Lots of parking here and at times, lots of muggles too.

A small camouflaged container that at the time of placement had a logbook,  FTF certificate with a few pins. Please bring your writing stick.

Small trade items only, please. Please hide as found.

A quick Park and Grab.

This cache was once part of the Shelburne County Geo Trail Adventure. https://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.aspx?guid=9fcebc82-42be-4af2-b686-d504ce842bd9
