Geocache Description:

Flat, open, close to parking. If there is more than three inches of snow, the clue and the cache may not be visible.

The cache is located in Leelanau County by the Cleveland Township Cemetery just south of the intersection of M-22 and Co. 669. Park at the cemetery entrance. THE CACHE AND CLUES ARE NOT INSIDE THE CEMETERY, but if you are interested in history, you might want to look around. Walk down the gravel cemetery road and go behind the back fence.

If you saw the classic 1966 western movie directed by Sergio Leone for which the cache is named and remember how Blondie/the man with no name (Clint Eastwood) and Tuco (Eli Wallach) found the hidden gold, then you know what we are up to here. According to Blondie, Bill Carson said that the gold was near the grave of Arch Stanton. The coordinates are for Stanton’s “gravestone”.

When you find it, the middle letter of the abbreviated death month will let you know which cardinal direction to travel in next. Add the second and fourth numbers of the death year and multiply the result by 5 to get the number of paces to walk. Then go that many paces in that direction to find the gold (cache). Don’t get greedy like Tuco and try to take all the gold, or you may end up the same way he did.

Jackson: The name on the grave is...
Tuco: In the cemetary, okay, in the grave okay! But it must have a name or a number on it! Talk, damn you!

Man With No Name: If you shoot me, you won't see a penny of that money.
Angel Eyes: Why?
Man With No Name: I'll tell you why
[kicks the coffin lid open]
Man With No Name: . Cause there's nothin' in here!

Tuco: [trying to read a grave that is marked "Unknown"] Un-k... un-k... there's no name on it.
Man With No Name: [showing him a stone] There's no name here, either. See, that's what Bill Carson told me. It was the grave marked "Unknown", right beside Arch Stanton.

Man With No Name: You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.
