Years ago I planned 16 caches along the
Minuteman Bike Path spread between the Bedford depot and route 128.
I have scaled that number back to 8. This is the eighth and last of
those caches.
The Minuteman Bike Path (MBP)
The Minuteman Bikeway was built in 1992 over the "rail-banked"
Lexington Branch railroad corridor between Bedford and West
Cambridge, Massachusetts, which passes through suburban Lexington
and Arlington long the way. The trail received its name from the
fact that it closely follows the path of the colonial Minutemen
during the Battle of 1775.
The Cache
Two years ago when I started planning out caches along this bike
path, this was the one I planned to place first. I even put out a
cache container but never got around to publishing it. Recently I
started placing caches along the bike path beginning near the
Bedford depot and worked my way down here. I was surprised to find
the cache. It was sitting under the tree right where I placed it
but it was completely exposed. I took that container and moved it
to a new location.
To find the cache go to the posted coordinates and look for two
sets of three numbers. Those numbers are the last three digits of
the final which is at N42 28.XXX W071 14.YYY. When you are
searching for the numbers you do not have to move anything or climb
on anything or play in traffic. They are not where I wanted to
place then because of the metal type needed. The numbers are in the
open and visible while standing with both feet on the bike
path.
The final is less than a quarter mile away along a less defined
path. Follow the pink to get you close.
Good luck and good caching,
Loch Cache
Congrats to dangermouse3314 on the
