Geocache Description:

Over the years Ottawa has seen Drive-Ins come and go. This is the second in a series of caches which will bring you to their resting places and will provide a little history on each. The final cache (#7) will take you to a fully functional Drive-In, which you can enjoy after all your hard work.

** Do NOT approach this cache from the private parking lot to the West - it is accessible only from the Famous Players Coliseum parking lot. **

The Britannia Drive-In opened in 1949 (!) and was twinned in 1976. Owned by 20th Century Theatres (and later Famous Players) it closed in 1996. There was room for 894 cars.

This is a very easy cache with very convenient parking. Odds are you've even caught a flick here in recent years!

Initial cache contents were a pewter elephant, a seashell, a carabiner, a butterfly bead kit, a retractable badge zip-cord and a Geocoin. The cache is a black stubby Thermos with an inside volume equivalent to about 2 hockey pucks stacked one on top of the other. The pencil is in the upper lid.

Please ensure the container is completely sealed – there shouldn’t be the need for a ziplock inside given the nature of the container.

Thanks goes out to movie-theatre.org for their permission to use their data.
