Teams !
I would advise teams of 4-5 people by car...
If you wish to form a team please let me know by email giving me
your team name and number in team.
For cachers wishing to combine with other cachers either
organise between you and let me know or alternativily let me know
and I can 'pair' you up.
Please note that this is an extreemly popular event and so
its on a first come basis. I am limiting the number of cars to 20
teams on the road, so please organise teams if possible before
contacting me (full cars please)
Please note due to limited numbers I will giving places to
teams who are staying for the meal, those who do not intend to eat
may find I do not allocate a place.
I would prefer no on the day entries....All teams must be
notified to me by 5pm Friday 12th October, however if you turn up,
I will try to accomodate you. - Subject to availiability
Clues ?
For those who have been before you will know the format,
otherwise you will be setting out looking for gps co-ordinates.
I will also have some other surprises up my sleave.
Prizes
I shall be providing a couple of small prize for the overall
winners, but in order to cut down on my costs, I would appreciate
if every team could bring an item suitable to put in a cache box
(around £2 per person or 1 prize around £8 - £10 per car). These
will then be given out as prizes.
Co-ordinates ?
On the day I will provide instructions, questions and full
co-ordinates. You do not have to do any pre work before the
day.
However,if you wish to save time at midnight on Friday 12th
October I shall create a full list of all the waypoints you will
need on the treasure hunt on this cache page, so these can be
downloaded (or typed into your GPS) on Saturday morning.
By using these I will allow you to program your GPS, but under
no circumstances must you use any of the data to pre-plan any
route, before you arrive at the pub.
This service is just to allow you to update your GPS, to avoid
having to manually type in the co-ords when you arrive at 2pm.
PLEASE DO NOT CHEAT
For those attending Hunt & Munch 2 last year, the format
will be the same.
What do I need ?
- Car full of petrol
- 2 x GPS per car (no mapping software)
- Road Map
- NO satnavs or equvilent
- Brightly coloured clown type wig ! (One per team -
minimum)
- Prizes (see above !)
- A mobile phone or means to take a digital picture
Menu
Full pub menu is availiable on the day, please order the food
before you depart on the treasure hunt.
Important Instructions ?
Full geocaching rules and regulations apply. As cache/event
setter I am not responsible for any problems encountered during the
day, including motoring accidents, speeding etc etc.
It is entirely your responsibility if you take part in the
event
By setting out to this event, the driver is responsible for any
third party action that may arise during the day. I as organiser,
am not responsible for any action at all
See notes below re driver
The route could be 40-50 miles so please ensure you have a full
tank of petrol as there are not many petrol stations on route.
It might be advisable to bring a paper road map (includes minor
roads) and have at least two GPS's in the car.
Please note that Pocket PC's / In car Navigation software etc
etc with memory map will be banned on the day !
Map software on GPS's will also be banned
Although there is no way I can enforce these rules, please abide
by them and make it a fair 'competition'
Full rules and instructions will be given on the day. First
vehicle to depart by 2pm so please be prompt !
Driver ?
The Driver has to apply to all UK driving laws and therefore as
such take no part in the treasure hunt (looking at GPS, reading
maps, making decisions etc. He can take instructions from
passengers as to which direction to drive in.
He must be in full control of the vehicle and even though the
event is time based all speeding laws must be followed, and
obviously drive slower if the conditions require.
Co-ordinates must be passed if the road conditions or traffic
does not allow safe stopping.
It is the drivers complete responsibility for the event and his
passengers
Driving faster than you would for a 'average' day out in the
countryside is the drivers responsibility, and I suggest for this
event should should not happen.
Items for sale...
At the event I shall be bringing with me a large number of
'alternative' Maryland style geocache containers.....
So bring your cash to this cache !
