No Picnic #1 Traditional Cache

lorriebird: The Evil Trilogy is now only the Dastardly Duo. GC14CVA, No Picnic #1 is no more. The widening of Tamiami Trail has taken it's permanent toll and the fabulous old concrete picnic tables are now reduced to a sad pile of rubble. Some people may be happy about this, but for the past 7 (!) years the No Picnics have provided laughs, angst, frustration and pride once found. Some of the best and worst logs I have ever read came from these caches. I still believe we need tough caches that aren't puzzles, and NP #2 and NP #3 remain in play. RIP my old original evil friend.

Geocache Description:

The name of the cache says it all........because finding it will certainly be No Picnic!

These little picnic areas were built along highway 41 back when it took a lot longer to travel between Naples and Miami. Most of them are still in the middle of nowhere, but now a few of them have been swallowed up by the surrounding growth. These days they always seem to be empty when I drive by...although the clouds of mosquitos and no-see-ums might have a little something to do with that!

Now for my disclaimer. Just like my evil siblings down the road, No Picnic #2 GC39GBT and No Picnic #3 GC39GD3, this cache is not a park & grab. It is designed to be difficult so prepare to search. Tough to find micros are not for everyone, so no worries if this type of cache is not your thing. There are plenty of other caches in the area with all levels of difficulty represented. PLEASE do not email me asking for hints to any of the Picnic caches...kind of defeats the purpose, no? But if you do decide to give this one a go, please don't post any hints or even innuendos about this cache in your log after you find it. I have one request to those who DO find it; If you have trouble replacing the cache securely in the manner in which you found it, please contact me right away so I can take care of it. Thanks in advance!

So bring your lunch and some bug spray...and think back about how it was before we had Alligator Alley as a travel option!

A well deserved congratulations to Litngbug, who was the first to complete the original 'No Picnic' series 1, 2 and 3! An equally honorable mention is also in order for Anidanid and Team Crime Scene who completed the series on the same day. Thank you guys for working so hard to find these caches...I know you invested a lot of time and effort!
