Geocache Description:

No bushwacking. If youre sitting down, youre close. If you are using a wheelchair some assistance might be needed to reach. If you're using a walker you can reach. I have Parkinsons and I use close objects to hold on to while reaching for the cache. Cache is about 2 ft off ground. If you are curious, the little park is a dog park for Summerlane residents.

Cache is wrapped in a dark plastic bag.. The container is very flat. Only holds a log. This cache is the third in the series of abandoned and little known airfields in Orange County. Meadowlark Airport was a beloved popular general aviation airfield which was closed in 1989. Some of you may remember it. It’s street boundaries in Huntington Beach were approximately Warner, Graham, Heil and Bolsa Chica. It had been the “seat-of-the-pants flier’s favorite hangout” since 1945. Also “a gravelly oasis where you could cruise for burgers in your Cessna.” The airport café was approximately right where the Ralph’s Market is off Warner between Bolsa Chica and Graham. The airport originally was called East Long Beach Airport, then Sunset Beach Airport, before finally becoming Meadowlark. Meadowlark’s one runway was paved and 1800 feet. Considered a short runway it was a popular airfield for practicing short field takeoffs and landings. Meadowlark had a large paved ramp area, which accommodated 300 based light aircraft by 1986. I have fond memories of this cool little airport from having flown in and out of it and of its great airport café food and ambiance. It eventually succumbed to pressures of development and is now an 80 acre residential community known as Summer Lane.
