My old boss and I are hoping to do some of the country's major
walks - albeit in easy stages! - and this is where we made a start
on the Southern Upland Way. hHe section from Lonformacus to Abbey
St. Bathans is the shortest part but from little acorns...
This is a most enjoyable walk and by heading in this direction
you miss out on the steepest climb en route, because you are going
down it! Muddy in places but easily accomplished in an afternoon at
a leisurely pace. As always with longer walks be prepared for the
weather but I hope you are as lucky as we were, it was
glorious.
The only difficulty was deciding where to stash a cache but I
liked the name of Owl Wood so that was that.
