WHAT IS A WATERSHED?
One of the easiest to understand definitions I found was on this websitevisit link. It says "A drop of rain runs off your roof, into your yard and joins other drops. They flow into a creek, then into a larger stream and finally into a river. People call the land area that collects all of these raindrops a watershed". A watershed includes the soil, air and water within it. Just remember, water flows downhill!
The coordinates will take you to the sign pictured below.

To your right are the beautiful Chilhowee Reservoir and Chilhowee Dam. The Chilhowee Watershed was created with the completion of the Chilhowee Dam in 1957. The reservoir has a normal full pool of 1,734 acres and a drainage area of 1,977 square miles. This dam and powerhouse is not owned by TVA but instead owned and operated by Alcoa/Tapoco.
To get credit for this Earthcache you must email me the answers to the following questions:
(1) Take a picture of yourself and/or your group with GPS at the sign pictured above.
(2) How many spillways does the dam have?
(3) Face the sign (East) and look to the left. You will see a mile marker on the opposite side of the road. What is the number on the mile marker sign?
(4) What is the name of the river here?
This cache can't be done at night unless I can clearly see you in the picture. Please don't post your answers in your log.
Any "FOUND IT" log without your picture and without the correct answers emailed to me will be DELETED. Thanks and HAPPY CACHING!
