The cache is located on the northern slope of Gooch Mountain, a
short distance above the AT. The closest road access to the cache,
about 0.3 miles (ATCF), is at the AT crossing of Cooper Gap Road
(FS 42-2). On the trail to the cache, you will pass the original
location of the Gooch Gap Shelter near the spring source of Mt Airy
Creek. The old shelter has been replaced by a new one west of the
cache location. If the new shelter is also visited after finding
the cache, the resulting round trip hike will be about 3 1/2 miles
long.

Note: As required by the USFS for caches hidden
in the Chattahoochee National Forest the cache is prominantly
labeled as a geocache and the label includes the GC14EE3 waypoint
