Placed in conjunction with
The 2nd Great MEAT-n-Greet at Coopers Rock
Another cache in the Clay Furnace area of Coopers Rock State
Forest.
After placing the Mont Chateau Trail cache I realized (the hard
way) that my back still hasn't healed. Because of this I also
realized (finally?) that not everyone that would enjoy a cache in
the woods is able to attempt the more strenuous hikes. Well, to
steal an advertisement slogan, this one's for you. A nice level
short hike on a 20 foot wide old roadbed. There are a few muddy
spots but nothing severe.
Again reception here was questionable. At the site I was
anywhere within an 80' to 23' Estimated Positional Error (EPE) and
I had left the other unit on top of the cheapjeep™. Thank goodness
it was still there. It kind of belongs to work. If your coordinates
vary greatly (I'm not talking just 10-15 feet, we're not able to
get survey grade accuracy with these hand-helds much to some's
dismay) please let me know.
Keep in mind that the park closes at dark and the gates are not
reopened until 6 a.m. Plan your trip accordingly. Also, if you plan
to search for this in the winter add about 3.5 miles one way. The
park is closed to motorized traffic from December to March.
The cache is a 30 cal ammo box.
