Geocache Description:

Regular camoed lock 'n' lock cache in a special place. The view up Indian Arm from the lighthouse on Croker Island is incredible. There is a "seat" on the lighthouse from which to sit and watch all the comings and goings in and out of the Arm. GPSr readings when I planted this cache would only get as accurate as +or- 22 ft, so please read cache description and hint before heading out to avoid any damage to the surrounding vegetation.

Croker Island was most likely named by Captain Richards, RN, of the HMS Plumper while surveying the area in 1859-1860, after his assistant Paymaster, James L. Croker.

A boat is needed to get to Croker Island. If you have a power boat of some sort, the trip need not be an overnighter, but if you will be using a kayak or a canoe, please consider spending the night at nearby Berg's Landing (Bishop Creek)campsite, or at the Provincial park campsite at Granite Falls. There are more caches at each of those campsites too!

There is good diving around Croker Island at Fishbowl at the South End of the Island, close to the cache, and at Rockfish Wall at the North end of the Island.

The best landing spot to get to this cache is right behind the lighthouse on the South end of Croker Island. It is not an easy place to land, but you shouldn't have TOO much trouble. Best not to bring a larger boat here, as there is drying rocks off the lighthouse. Better to anchor over by Berg's Landing, off Granite Falls, or even by the beach just North of Silver Falls, and bring your tender over. Once landed, there is a bit of a climb up behind the lighthouse. Look for the rock jumble, but don't try to climb up it, the cache is at the bottom of the jumble.

Sorry - no traditional FTF prize in this cache - I forgot to bring it when I put the cache out! I also forgot to bring a log book, but I made one while we were out which should be just fine. The pages are not stapled, so please try not to loose any! I'll bring a stapler next time I'm going there. Original contents of cache include a noseflute, a calculator, a whistle/compass/ waterproof container/mirror thingy, a compass keychain, 2 bouncy balls, a beaded keychain, Port Moody pin, and a couple of kitties. Please take your choice no trade needed for FTF.
