Hidden Charleston: Gateway Walk Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

IntotheWoods: Well, this cache had a good run. I deeply regret that certain cachers decided to flagrantly ignore the posted hours, hop the fence, and invite the ire of the landowner, thus necessitating this archival. Thanks to all who visited and had the chance to explore this hidden corner of Charleston.

Geocache Description:

Hidden Charleston is a new series of downtown caches that aim to bring visiting and local geocachers to beautiful and interesting places that they may not have realized existed.

The Gateway Walk is a winding, tree-laden path that wends its way from Archdale Street to Church Street. Commissioned by the Charleston Garden Club and designed by noted landscape artist Loutrel Briggs, the path was constructed in 1930 in honor of the City of Charleston's 250th anniversary. A complete traverse of the path will leave little doubt why Charleston is nicknamed "The Holy City" as you pass four historic churches...in four blocks.

The cache is a clear plastic tube with a screw-top containing only a log sheet and pencil. Also, please be aware that the gates are locked at 5PM and the cache is unavailable after that time.

Have fun and enjoy Charleston!
