Knight's Point (West Coast) Traditional Cache
The-Organist: Great location for something, however I’m feeling uncomfortable with the positioning behind a safety barrier with slips more frequent.

Viewpoint
On the 6th of November 1965, this section of highway was opened, connecting Westland directly with Otago. There is a memorial here to commemorate the opening.
However, most people come here for the absolutely fantastic views. Lots of buses and many tourists! Thank heavens for the large stone statue which somewhat hides what a geocacher would be doing behind the wooden railing! :)
There are some substantial drops nearby, so I am going to insist that you read a few hints:
1) Do NOT let any children go behind the railing (there's about 10 clear metres before a drop)
2) The cache is within HALF A METRE of the railing.
3) There are TWO rocks, which you must sight before collecting the cache - the cache is behind the left-most rock (which is the smaller of the two).
Original cache is a 600mL click clack container with:
Winnie stamp
Dinosaur
Pirate Lanyard
...as well as logbook, pencils, etc
Archive alert: Regrettably this cache has become too high maintenance and I make the journey to the West Coast less frequently. This cache is disabled now to allow last logs, and will be archived when a reasonable period of time is passed. If you're a West Coast local, please consider placing a new cache in this area. It is a great place for people to stop and has a number of Favourite Points because of its location.
