Take Two of These and Call Me in the Morning Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

New York Admin: Groundspeak has been contacted by the president of the Hudson Mohawk Bird Club, Inc in regards to the caches in Rist Wildlife Sanctuary. They were unaware any geocaches were within Rist and asked that they all be removed. The President of HMBC states "as you may know, the Reist Sanctuary is a bird sanctuary for scientific and educational purposes. The Reist has been set aside to preserve habitat, to allow breeding birds proper environments and it is a place for ongoing biological studies. Geocaching would not be in alignment with these purposes. "

I am archiving all geocaches within Rist at their request. Please remove your cache at your earliest convenience.

Geocache Description:

Take Two of These and Call Me in the Morning

Neo was given a choice: the Red or the Blue pill?

“You take the blue pill and the story ends. You wake in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill and you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes. Remember — all I am offering is the truth, nothing more.”

Neo, as most know, took the red pill.

The problem with red and blue in the woods, though, is that it would be too easy to find them. In my case you need to find the green and brown pills. The only way you can take the blue pill is to place this cache on your “ignore list” which I would hope you would not do. I don’t even know how to operate an ignore list. To me, there is no such thing. I do not want to be a person that has ‘X’ amount of finds and 99% of them are regular containers, so I try to do them all…in good time.

But I digress…..

This multi cache is one of a few caches I have places in the Henry G. Reist Wildlife Sanctuary. My introduction to this area was with the Across the Way and Across the Way Too caches. The problem with them is that they were set up with the owner’s enjoyment of watching cachers enter the woods “across the way” from his house and not from the trail system. We always wondered how to access the trails and only came upon them accidentally. That was in 2006. Since then, one of the Across the Ways fell in to disrepair and was archived. An older cache, the Tiny Nisky Cache (GCFAE1), was a multi that was before my time but that, too, went away.

Now is the time to give this sanctuary the caches it deserves. This area offers 113 acres with several miles of trails. Hopefully with the caches I have placed I will be giving you a tour of the majority of the trails. For more information about the sanctuary, visit their site at: Henry G. Reist Wildlife Sanctuary.

There are several parking spots to access the trails as well as some spots that do not really have room for parking. Choose from the ones listed to start your adventure.

The final of this cache is an ammo can.

So what’s it going to be? The red pill or the blue pill?

Sanctuary is open from Dawn 'till Dusk
