Geocache Description:

A 50 cal ammo box filled with dog and cat toys.

We wanted to do something for our 4-legged geocachers that often accompany many of us 2-legged cachers on our hunts. While usually accompanied by only dogs, we didn't want to leave the cats in our lives out, so the cache contains NEW toys for both (all toys are new although tags have been removed to make storing in the ammo box easier). When trading toys, please be considerate and trade only clean, PREFERABLY NEW, toys only so we don't inadvertently pass an illness on to others.

This park serves the north Pinellas county area and is characterized by hilly terrain, wooded areas, and beautiful vistas over looking Salmon Bay and Lake Tarpon. The park offers individual and group picnicking facilities, play equipment for humans, nature trail (478 feet in a cypress grove along Salmon Bay), and a boat launching facility. There is also a Paw Park. These 2 adjacent green fenced areas allow unleashed canines the opportunity to run free. There is some shade in these areas for both the dogs and their owners (both fenced-in areas have a place for owners to sit while the dogs romp around) And, when the pet gets hot and thirsty, there are cooling stations complete with showers and dog-level water fountains to cool things off. Owners are required to supervise and clean up after their four-legged friends, and all dogs must be on a leash when outside of the Paw Playground area.

We did talk with the rangers at the park and get permission to place this cache. Beware of muggles and mosquitos (remember the DEET). Remember to cover the cache as you found it or better. The cache was placed on a cloudy day and there is some tree cover, so please let us know if the coordinates are off. This cache is also the launching site for our McGrath Husky TB.

This is beautiful park so bring your family (4-legged members included), pack a lunch and plan on spending some time enjoying this area.
