I was invited to go on a birthday geocaching Skyline to the Sea
hike and decided to set out some additional caches for the birthday
boy and friends to find.
This replacement cache (for the archived Horse Camp Cache) is
also nearby the Horse Camp campground and the park office here for
Big Basin Redwoods State Park. It is not very far from Waddell
Beach.
There is a trailhead here for a hikers' trail that parallels the
Big Basin Canyon Trail. Geocachers who have started up the trail
from Waddell Beach are strongly urged to take the West Trail for
the views 0.3 miles up the trail from here (and also to search for
the nearby Canada de la Salud cache up the trail as well!) Note
that this cache is NOT along that trail!
The walk from Waddell Beach to this cache is a terrain rating of
1.5. The 2.5 terrain rating for the cache is for the very brief
excursion that you must make from the Canyon Trail service road.
The cache is within twenty average paces of the nearby trailhead
sign.
The cache container is not on the ground.

This cache replaces "Horse Camp Cache," the placement of which was
constantly "muggled" by a particularly persistent representative of
the local fauna. I bow to the fauna's wishes.
