Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
The listed coordinates are for a local store that will give you an
idea of the theme of this cache if you are stuck. Nothing is hidden
there and the proprietor and staff are not involved with our game.
Once you “get it” you should be able to solve the equations
easily.
This is a four part multi. After you figure
out the equations (see image) and
concatenate
the data correctly you will have the coordinates for the first WP.
To avoid confusion, use Wikipedia as the primary source of
information. Be sure to use the DD MM.mmm format.
It is best to do all computation out to maximum decimal places
because rounding can cause a minor change to become a major error.
It is not rigorous if you understand the mathematical concept
of “order of operations” and use a calculator! Refer to the
“user’s web page” if you do not know what the INT function
is.
You will know you are in the right place because the name of the
area is consistent with the theme of the puzzle. Parking should be
obvious. This is a short (.75 mile) loop trail so the intermediate
WPs are close but they are small (for the most part) and subtly
concealed. The final cache had been changed to a small plastic
(former) peanut-butter container. Original contents include a
logbook a pencil and other size-appropriate trade items.
There is no need to bushwhack - trails lead to everything you need
to find. Your GPSr will want you to go directly from WP2 to WP3 but
if you do, your wet, scratched, and prickered body will be covered
in poison ivy.
After you have found the cache continue down the trail. Your
vehicle is just a short distance away.
Please feel free to email me with coordinates. The calculations are
fraught with possible mistakes. Good luck!
Update 8/10/2007: The new WP3 is ready. It is closer to the trail
and has better satellite reception. You do not need to go farther
than 31.7 feet into the woods. Yellowjacket nest has been
destroyed.
Update 10/24/07 I did not place any decoys. This is the work of
someone else. Please remove it if you find it.
Update 7/15/08 I have added a further hint to help with WP3 since
GPSr reception there is all over the place.
Update 4/5/09 Town had completed upgrade near WP1. Revised
equations have been added.
