Geocache Description:

This is the second of a series of 4 caches, THE CO-ORDINATES ARE NOT THESE OF THE CACHE the real ones must be obtained by first finding ‘Leyline One’. NOTE: The log at his location is an 'Aquaskin' fanfold strip, so you will need to take your own PEN, as pencil will not write on 'Aquaskin'!

This series is based around the ancient concept of a Ley-line, and to complete the series access to special equipment will be needed… (ie OS maps and ruler). You will also need to find the 3 micro caches in numerical order, and also visit 3 other locations in order to find the final ‘Power of The Leyline’ cache.

The first micro cache that you need to find is Leyline One and will simply provide you with the co-ordinates of Leyline Two which is your next cache and is located just over 6 miles away.
Finding Leyline Two will provide A and B, part of the information you need to find Leyline Three… but to get the rest of the combination… read on.
If you draw a perfectly straight line on an OS map connecting cache 1 and cache 2 you will see that the line passes directly through 3 ancient churches! (Is this co-incidence, or part of the Leyline Magic?) Find out the Christian name of the saint to which each of the 3 churches is dedicated, and apply the following…

Church nearest to ‘cache One’:
Count the position that the vowel ‘a’ falls in the name, then take away 2 = C

The only church that has a steeple:
Count the position that the vowel ‘o’ falls in the name, then take away 2 = D

Church Closest to ‘cache Two’:
Count the position that the vowel ‘i’ falls in the name, then take away 1 = E

The Longitude of ‘Leyline Three’ is W002 AB.CDE… but you must decide the Latitude yourself, given the fact that the cache falls exactly on our Leyline!

When you find ‘Leyline Three’ it will contain the full co-ordinates for the final cache (Power of the Leyline) This is a small container cache and ANY SWOPS MUST BE MAGNETIC in some way (fridge magnets, toy compasses, etc.) This is in order to maintain the power of the Ley-line, and in actual fact this cache has been located very slightly (180ft) to the west of the line in order to compensate for magnetic variation (note tongue in cheek!)
May The Force be with you!

FOR GEOCACHERS WHO HAVE NEVER HEARD OF LEYLINES…
Ley lines are alignments of a number of places of geographical interest, such as ancient megaliths. Their existence was first suggested in 1921 by the amateur archaeologist Alfred Watkins, whose book ‘The Old Straight Track’ first brought the phenomenon to the attention of the wider public.
REF: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leyline

"Ley lines are alignments and patterns of powerful, invisible earth energy said to connect various sacred sites, such as churches, temples, stone circles, megaliths, holy wells, burial sites, and other locations of spiritual or magical importance".
REF: (Harper's Encyclopaedia of Mystical and Paranormal Experience)

An article in New Scientist magazine, published in 1987, suggested that species as diverse as pigeons, whales, bees and even bacteria can navigate using the earth's magnetic field, and possibly ley-lines.
It is thought that a tissue containing a substance called magnetite is responsible for this ability.
Magnetite enables living creatures to sense magnetic changes and has been found in human tissue linked to the ethmoid bone in the front of the skull.
The scientific belief, is that ley-lines might be linear areas of altered or concentrated magnetic fields.
