Welcome to one of the top ten favorite traditional caches in Maine, an ammo can (originally a lock and lock) located on the campus of College of the Atlantic (COA).
Ever wonder why there is a whale skull just off Eden Street? Stop by and find out!
The multi-use path on Rt. 3 provides easy pedestrian access from town. In the summer and fall you may take the free #2 Island Explorer Bus.
Thanks to Ted Koffman of College of the Atlantic who coordinated the setup of this cache with the college, and to Jean Sylvia who continued the support of this cache.
Special thanks to the staff of the Dorr Museum, which has kept an eye on this cache and greeted cachers who stop by the museum. Click on the Related Web Page above for info on the Dorr Museum and its hours.
Thanks also to acadiahiker, who was FTF and helped to maintain the cache for many years.
Summer 2023 update: I was fortunate to attend a summer institute at COA and I took this opportunity to set up an Adventure Lab leading to this cache, Bar Harbor North.
Coordinates bring you to the Whale Skull. Check the fake rock to the right of the museum entrance to find the cache.
THANKS!
