Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted coordinates. Answer the questions below to determine the actual coordinates. You will not have to enter private property to find this cache.

The company located at the above coordinates is the SmallSAT satellite provider for the Canadian Space Agency. The first Canadian smallSAT since 1971 was designed and built here, and successfully launched in 2003.

Answer the following questions to determine the cache coordinates.

The coordinates for the cache are as follows:

N 49 AB.CDE
W 97 FG.HIJ

Each right answer gives a digit for the coordinates.

If the answers to these questions are too difficult, e-mail me. But with the help of Google, Wikipedia, and the CSA website (www.space.gc.ca), I think the answers should be easy to find.

A) The name of the company at these coordinates:
   1) Standard Aero (A = 4)
   2) Bristol Aerospace (A = 5)
   3) Boeing (A = 6)
B) The name of the first satellite designed and built by this company:
   1) RADARSAT-1 (B = 7)
   2) CASSIOPE (B = 5)
   3) SCISAT-1 (B = 3)
C) The purpose of this satellite:
   1) Make observations of the Earth’s ozone layer (C = 7)
   2) Take images of the Earth (C = 5)
   3) Measure the magnetics of the north and south pole (C = 3)
D) The total mass of the satellite:
   1) 50 kg – 100 kg (D = 3)
   2) 100 kg – 200 kg (D = 5)
   3) 200 kg – 300 kg (D = 7)
E) The number of times this satellite orbits the Earth each day:
   1) 13 (E = 5)
   2) 14 (E = 3)
   3) 15 (E = 1)
F) The height of the orbit of this satellite:
   1) Between 400 km and 500 km (F = 5)
   2) Between 500 km and 600 km (F = 3)
   3) Between 600 km and 700 km (F = 1)
G) Where was this satellite launched from:
   1) Vandenberg Air Force Base (G = 2)
   2) Cape Canaveral (G = 4)
   3) Baikonur Cosmodrome (G = 6)
H) What vehicle was this satellite launched on:
   1) DNEPR (H = 2)
   2) ATLAS-V (H = 4)
   3) Pegasus (H = 6)
I) Total power used by the satellite:
   1) 500 W – 1000 W (I = 4)
   2) 100 W – 500 W (I = 2)
   3) 50 W – 100 W (I = 0)
J) The name of the next satellite built by this company:
   1) SCISAT-2 (J = 0)
   2) CASSIOPE (J = 1)
   3) RADARSAT-2 (J = 2)

The cache contains a FTF certificate, as well as some space related items. If you take an item, try to leave a space related item. There are a few copies of a DVD with some interesting information on the building and launch of this satellite. If you are in the area after watching the DVD, return it to the cache so others can watch it too. Peter Jordan did a segment on his show “It’s A Living” about us building the satellite. I am on the show 5 times; can you tell which person is me?
