Klassieke multi van ca. 2km. Kinderwagens of rolstoelen kunnen gerust mee, iets lastiger ter hoogte van WP2 en de stash. Een rekenmachientje kan handig zijn…
Opgelet : wanneer er een tag moet gezocht worden hoef je niets los te vijzen. De tocht zal je langs enkele kunstwerken brengen. Gelieve deze niet te manipuleren. Er zijn geen tags of micro’s verborgen in, op of onder deze kunstwerken dit om alle schadeclaims te vermijden !
Classic Multi Stage Cache of about 2km. It is accessible for prams and wheelchairs (but a bit difficult at WP2 and the stash). Best to bring along a calculator.

Het parcours loopt over de campus “Drie Eiken” van de Universiteit Antwerpen. De tocht wordt best gelopen in het weekend of op feestdagen. Daarbuiten kan het zeer druk zijn wat ongemoeid cachen vrijwel onmogelijk maakt.
Vermijd ook nachtelijke uren om geen argwaan op te wekken….
De UIA (nu “Campus Drie Eiken” van de UA) werd in 1971 opgericht door de wetgever om te voorzien in doctoraats- en licentiaatsonderwijs voor de meeste studierichtingen die aangeboden werden aan het voormalige Ufsia of RUCA. Tegelijk werd ook het Universitair Ziekenhuis Antwerpen (UZA) opgericht. De UIA voerde in 1971 een vernieuwend onderwijsbeleid in, gebaseerd op een trimestersysteem (thans semester-systeem in voege aan de ganse Universiteit Antwerpen), creditsysteem, beperkte hoorcolleges en nadruk op actief onderwijs en zelfstudie, een systeem dat nu ingang heeft gevonden in heel Vlaanderen.
As you might have guessed the cache is located in and around the “3 eiken” (“3 oaks”) campus of the Antwerp University. In order to avoid high muggle-concentration it is best to walk this one on weekends or public holidays. Better not snoop around at night to avoid any problems with staff or police.
This campus originated as UIA back in 1971 to provide the equivalent of today’s masters degrees to the students of the UFSIA and RUCA campuses elsewhere in the city. In 2003 they where united into one institution: the Antwerp University. As early as 1971 there was a unique trimester system that allowed students to spread exams throughout the year and an emphasis on personal study and interactive classes, a system that is now propagated in the whole of Flanders. |

Een wereldberoemd tuinarchitect en ontwerper van ondermeer de Jardin du Carroussel et des Tuileries (bij het Louvre), de tuinen van het Elysée (Parijs), de verloren tuinen van Khajuraho (India) en de tuinen van het Belgisch paviljoen op de wereldtentoonstelling van Osaka in Japan.

Vroeger zat de tag verstopt in de banken van de arena doch de tag ging steeds opnieuw zoek. Nu is WP3 een micro even verderop. Nukedoc denkt dat u best knielt uit respect voor de gladiatoren...

Here come the gladiators
The original tag was located in between the “seats” of the arena but kept getting detached and was eventually lost. It has been replaced by a micro in the vicinity. Nukedoc insists that you kneel out of respect for the gladiators….

Dit is de eerste steen van de toenmalige Universitaire Instelling Antwerpen. Bovenaan is een uitsparing voorzien waar ooit een “tijdscapsule” geplaatst diende te worden doch dit is nooit gebeurd…
Op de steen is een datum vermeld : tel alle cijfers op tot één cijfer. Dit getal noemen we D =
Oops…forgot that one…
This was the commemoral first stone of the UIA. On top there is a cavity to allow for a “time capsule” Even though this capsule still exists today – probably laying in some forgotten locker – it was never “entombed”.
There is a date on the stone : add up all the numbers on the stone and keep adding them up until you get a single digit. This number then is D.

Erepeleton
Je bevindt je nu aan de achterzijde van de Aula Major waar elk jaar ondermeer de eredoctoraten worden uitgereikt. In het verleden viel deze eer al te beurt aan ondermeer dr. John F. Nash Jr (bij het grote publiek bekend dan zij het verhaal “a beautiful mind” dat later ook verfilmd werd), Nelson Mandela, beeldend kunstenaar Luc Tuymans, Koning Boudewijn en Sir David Attenborough.
Hoeveel “soldaten” staan er op deze plaats in het erepeleton ? : F = aantal+1 (alleen op deze plaats, niet het groepje verderop...)
Guard of honour
You are now at the back end of the Aula Major. Every year this building hosts the proclamation of the honorary doctorates. Among them people like dr. John F. Nash Jr (“a beautiful mind”), Nelson Mandela, scuplter Luc Tuymans, King Baudoin and Sir David Attenborough.

Deze contructie is geen restant van een verloren beschaving maar een kunstwerk van de heer …… : tel de waarde van alle letters in de naam van de kunstenaar op volgens de gekende methode (A=1…Z=26). Zo bekom je een tweecijferig getal dat we G noemen.
Gelieve NIET aan de muur te prutsen….

No remnants from some prior civilisation but an installation from the artist … : add up the numeric value of the characters in the name of the artist (A=1…Z=26). The resulting two digit number is G.
