Ever since we started geocaching, the hikes and the mountains have kept us excited that there are great places to explore in Maine. We did the previous cache on Blue Hill Mountain, elevation of 934 ft, in the spring of our first year of geocaching when the snow and ice were still on the trail, but we just took that as part of the challenge. It was a good hike and resulted in a great view of Blue Hill and surrounding areas. Nothing has changed regarding the hike and the view. So, with a cache absent from this beautiful spot for so long, we decided to place one here. The cache is an ammo can and is placed with an aerial view of Blue Hill and the ocean. Please DO NOT disturb, remove, or otherwise change any vegetation while searching for the cache. It ISN'T necessary!! The terrain ratings are relevant to dry, summertime conditions. Any change in those conditions elevates the terrain ratings, so be aware of the weather and your hiking apparel. There are two trails to approach the cache, Osgood Trail and Hayes Trail, so I'm posting the parking coordinates for both. It is up to you to choose your trail and approach to the cache. That is part of the adventure. The cache may not be winter-friendly depending on the snow cover. Enjoy your hike...Enjoy the views...Enjoy the find!
