Wayfarer's Walk is a long distance path which starts at Inkpen Beacon, this is also an end point of The Test Way. It is close to the site of Combe Gibbet and follows a meandering route to Emsworth, some 70 miles distant. The path starts in Berkshire, but most of it is in the county of Hampshire. The path runs close to the highest points in both Berkshire and Hampshire as witnessed by the nearby trig points. Parts of the walk can get muddy and deeply rutted whereas other parts are an easier terrain. I hope you enjoy the wonderful views from this scenic path.
This cache gets it's name from the seven bowl barrows located either side of the A34. It is also the site of where Sir Geoffrey de Haviland made his first flight. More details of this can be found at the nearby "First Flight Memorial Cache" by Paul Blitz
Please note that if you intend going east from here to do more of the Wayfarer's Walk series, I STRONGLY suggest that you cross the A34 by way of the (signposted) underpass at N51 17.286 W1 20.352.
My thanks to Dick (Daisy and her man) for placing his Wayfarer's Walk - Safe Crossing cache GC159M0 to encourage everyone to cross where it is safe - and bag another cache!
