A good climb to this one but the reward is an outstanding view of the Talybont reservoir.
This cache can be reached on foot or on mountain bike from the NE or SW direction. Long steady climbs are involved. We always enjoy this route on our moutain bikes, joining the Taff Trial at the dam (N51 52.606, W3 18.253)with a steady climb all the way to the road (N51 50.881 W3 22.393)a left turn gives you a rewarding downhill but look out for the green gate on your left (N51 50.471, W3 22.876). This follows a disused railway and gives you some lovely views over Pentwyn & Pontsticill Reservoirs (look out for the stone pinic table on your right- we can normally be found here munching our sarnies) If you are lucky you may hear or catch a glimpse of the Brecon Mountain Railway in the distance. As the wide path starts to head downhill, turn left onto a sandy track (roughly at N51 49.290, W3 22.161 - will update with the exact co-ordinates on our next trip), the sandy track quickly turns into a loose rocky climb - you are better mountain bikers than us if you get up here without getting off. Through a gate and a right turn takes you across the top of Bryniau Gleision, be careful of the watersplashes people have been known to disappear!! Soon you'll be at our favourite bit the long downhill towards home - but don't get to excited or you may miss the views and whizz past the cache. A left turn (N51 51.038, W3 18.364)has you doubling back on yourself and returns you onto the Taff Trail and time to freewheel home.
