Geocache Description:


Located about 200 feet from the summit of Mount Gordon Lyon in Arctic Valley. The cache is a small container with a log book and pencil, not really large enough for trade items. There are spectacular views of Knik Arm, Anchorage and Eagle River Valley.

From the parking lot at the Alpenglow ski area, walk up the valley to the northeast, staying on the right-hand side of the stream and follow the footpath.

The mountain is named for Gordon Lyon, the project engineer for the Site Summit Nike Missle Installation which was located nearby, now abandoned.

Arctic Valley Road is maintained by the military and the gate is closed from 2200 to 0500 hours. There is a $5 parking fee at the Alpenglow parking lot.
