You will find me along the original road between Livingston MT and Yellowstone National Park.
Note added 03/30/15. We understand the coordinates are off a bit and will check and adjust them when we return to Montana in early June. Meanwhile… a hint: It is under something attached to the building!
Note added 11/02/13. There is no camera in the cache now. Please take photos with your own camera (or phone) and post them on the listing. Thanks!
Note added 09/08/13. This is a replacement for the original cache that was "vaporized" in the very hot Pine Creek wildfire of 2012. The original cache lasted exactly 5 years to the day in its original location in a large evergreen tree. No trees of that type are left now, so you will have to look elsewhere to find this new one. The coordinates have been updated. Here is the original description. Be sure to also note all of the rocks exposed by the fire as it passed through. You can really see why they are called the "Rocky Mountains!"
If you enjoy exploring byways, you will love hunting for this cache! You will see beautiful fields of hay and alfalfa, cattle, deer, and an occasional turkey or fox.
Look for a small rural school, still in use, and an older one-room school that is no longer used.
The site where the cache was hidden has been there over 100 years, since 1900!
It is NOT in a private backyard!
The cache is in a waterproof plastic container. It has a logbook, pen and pencil, assorted toys and things for grown-ups too.
Note added 9/16/07. A large American black bear (actually it is brown in color) has been seen in the vicinity of the cache. If you make plenty of noise when you visit it should not be a problem. He is said to like apples and napping on the lawn.
Note added 5/25/08. Stopped by for spring maintenance. The cache is currently full of lots of fun stuff. A lot of people have signed the log but haven't logged their visit online nor have they taken their photos with the camera we have in the cache. Please do both when you visit! Thanks.
Note added 08/08/09 Finally uploaded the photos from the first disposable camera we had in the cache. Most were amazingly good. A few were not usable. If you see yourselves in one of the photos, send me a note and I will change the label on it to your name or a comment you would like to add.
