While we were placing this cache, we heard two Great Horned Owls calling to each other and decided to make them the theme of this cache. Owls are federally protected animals and sit at the top of the food chain. They play a large role in keeping the rodent population under control. We hope that you are fortunate enough to see or hear them while looking for our cache. The title of our cache refers to how birders describe the call of the Great Horned Owl.
