Geocache Description:

Roadside park and grab along Virlilia Road.

Mississippi's first ammunition plant was built in Flora at a cost of $15 million to support our efforts in World War II. Workers installed special telephones, water fountains, and other equipment needed to reduce the possibility of sparks and serious accidents. Bunkers were built to store the ammunition in close to the rail lines at Kearney Park. Reminants of the old ammunition plant can be viewed by driving around the Kearney Park area. Several of the old buildings are being used today for warehousing and some for small business ventures.
