Geocache Description:

Up Burch Mountain Road and easily driven in a regular car if you go slow. Parking within 20' of the cache. Watch for snakes.

In tribute of the $500 cache which never was found thanks to the fire that destroyed this hillside.

The name of this cache comes from the amount estimated this fire cost to contain it. It was started innocently enough by some young men playing paintball. One threw a smoke bomb which started the fire and the winds quickly took it out of control. Unfortunately for the young man who inadvertantly started this fire, he and his family may be responsible for the costs.

Living below and looking up to the hillside everyday, it breaks my heart to see "my hill" black and bare. A true testiment to the skill of our firefighters, no houses or lives were lost. As you drive up the road, you can see the retardant drop areas, including that which fell on a friends house. Of course, he decided to stand on his driveway to get that one last picture of the tanker making it's drop before he evacuate! I'm trying to get a copy of that photo. I think he's still washing his clothes out!

Please rehide the cache well since the container is large and the sage bush is small.
