Welcome again to Lost Lake. I placed this cache to entice folks to do the entire circuit around lost lake.
This cache is a good 20 minute walk west past the day use area at the north end of the lake, where excellent views of Mt Hood can be found. Much of the lake trail in this area is boardwalk over a very swampy/marshy part of the lake, very different from the old growth forest and camping and day use areas.
I was recently contacted by Amy's family about the cache, and was informed that Amy was tragically killed in a car accident while driving with friends up to Mt Hood in 1990.
Family and friends placed the bench, with the assistance of the forest service, and they come each year to visit the spot and remember Amy and her love of the outdoors.
Do remember Amy, and be especially careful as you drive between the lake and Hood River.
