This cache was placed in honor of all those who lost their lives in the Flight 800 crash. Since we couldn't hide this cache near the monument for security reasons, we chose a place close by. Please be sure to visit this monument at: 41- 14.938 76-55.122. It's just a short drive in downtown Montoursville on the main street.
These cords were taken with a 15 foot accuracy. You will need to bring your own pen/pencil. PLEASE use high stealth here as there will be lots of walkers and joggers on the path in the daytime. Make sure to "screw the lid" tightly when you sign the log so it doesn't get wet.
On the evening of July 17, 1996 two hundred thirty passengers and crew boarded TWA Flight 800 at Kennedy International Airport in New York. Their destination was Paris, France. Amoung the passengers were sixteen students of the Montoursville High School French Club and five adult chaperones. Shortly after takeoff Flight 800 exploded off the coast of Long Island and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean. All aboard parished.
In an instant life changed forever. They are forever in our hearts. This monument is dedicated to them.
CONGRATULATIONS TO TEAM GAMPS FOR THE FTF!
