Geocache Description:

This cache is a magnetic Keyholder and is a very easy drive up. After your find take a drive south and take RR 628 east for a nice drive through the country. Or visit the other side of Spring Lake and come and say hello to Los Patos

Spring Lake is what we call home.

Over this past year, while we were busy Geocaching and traveling to foreign places, the village added a new subdivision and we received about 40 new neighbours without even noticing. A good thing the entrance is from the west, and not on our side of the village.
So the other night we took a drive out and thought, what a great place for a cache.
Unfortunately there was no suitable place for a magnetic without entering private property, so we planted the cache just on the west side of the subdivision.

The Village of Spring Lake is approximately 30 km west of the city of Edmonton in Alberta, Canada, and 10 km west of the town Stony Plain. The Village of Spring Lake was incorporated on January 1, 1999. Prior to that, for a period of 40 years, it was known as the Summer Village of Edmonton Beach. Spring Lake has a permanent population of about 545 and in the summer has over 600. The village surrounds the lake known as Spring Lake. It is spring fed from underground springs and is 2.4 kms long by 2.2 kms wide. In spots it is over 10 meters deep. It has a large island in the middle and a shallow sill in the south western bay. Between the lake and the homes is a large meadow area which is a great area for a peaceful walk.

The lake is well stocked with rainbow trout some of which weigh up to ten lbs. There is an active Trout Fishing Club who have just completed aeration of the lake. Numerous ducks, geese and other waterfowl use the lake for their summer nesting including the beautiful blue Heron and the lovely Loons featured as our logo. Beaver are seen around the lake, and deer and moose often frequent the area as well.

The Village offers a country style quality of life in a peaceful environment within easy commuting distance to major cities and towns. Spring Lake has administration buildings, parks and play areas, an outdoor skating rink, a riding arena and several walking paths which lead to the meadow.
