Oakwell Hall is a manor house built in 1583 and furnished as a family home of the 1690s. Built of stone with mullion windows, the hall contains a rich collection of original and reproduction furniture and everyday items.

It is set in over 100 acres of country park which has within its boundaries many habitats worthy of investigation; woodlands, grasslands, wetlands, ponds and streams. There are nature trails, a permanent orienteering course and a wildlife garden.
