Geocache Description:

Chickamauga Dam and Reservoir is located in Southeast Tennessee on the Tennessee River.

Just what is a watershed? It's the area of land that catches rain and snow and drains or seeps into a marsh, stream, river, lake or groundwater. If you were to drive around Chickamauga Reservoir you would notice that every creek and stream you come across eventually empties into the reservoir. Homes, farms, ranches, forests, small towns, big cities and more can make up watersheds. Some cross county, state, and even international borders. Watersheds come in all shapes and sizes. Some are millions of square miles, others are just a few acres. Just as creeks drain into rivers, watersheds are nearly always part of a larger watershed.

Chickamauga Dam is the fourth of the TVA's main river projects, and is located 20 miles northeast of Chattanooga. Construction began in January 13, 1936 and the dam went into operation four years later. The filling of Chickamauga Reservoir began January 15, 1940 and affected the whole southeast Tennessee area in many ways.

5)How many square acres is the surface area of the Chickamauga Reservoir?
6)How many counties surround the Chickamauga Reservoir and what are their names?
7)How wide was the Tennessee river at the listed coords before the Chickamauga Dam was constructed?
8)Using your GPS, go to the other side of the lake and give me the distance from one shore of the lake to the other which would be the current width of the lake.
9)Give me the bearing of the widest part of the lake from the given coords.
