Geocache Description:

Enjoy the woods as you get a good cardio-vascular workout.

This is a big hike. The original CO's intent for this hide was to take you to some local high elevation. Since this camp is on Boy Scout property, I need to guide you along the way to avoid having any questions raised while hiking around children who are not your own. So, that being said, I've provided for you several waypoints to follow. Along your way, if you follow this path, you can also pick up two other caches placed just off the trail. They are Pack 355 Awesome 1 and Awesome Cubmaster. I strongly suggest you follow them and my other directions and don't try to bushwhack your way to the cache. (I cut a straight line to the Parking area after placing the cache and truly regret it). This cache is about the journey, not the hide. The container is just a waterproof way (ammo container) to prove you made the entire trip. Enjoy!

I have spoken with the Camp Ranger Scott, and have his permission to place these caches. Stick to the directions and you shouldn't have any problems. If anyone questions your presence, please let me know ASAP.

The Directions:

Stay on the road/trail until the entire way unless veering off to pick up the two caches on the way up!

  • From the Parking Area, head directly toward Fork 1 where you will make a right turn and head toward Fork 2.
  • At Fork 2, you will make another right turn and head toward Fork 3.
  • At Fork 3, turn left.
  • At Fork 4, turn right. (This is the long leg of the hike)
  • Fork 5 is at a clearing. Keep going straight up a slight hill where you will see the trail reappear to your right. (Very steep hill)
  • At Fork 6, the trail seems to go left and right, but you need to go straight. The trail resumes on the other side of the pine tree. The next 900 feet of run you will ascend 300 vertical feet. That's a 33% slope!!!
  • Your last waypoint is where you are free to go off-trail to find the cache. It isn't too far from where you are standing.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS CACHE IF THERE IS SNOW AROUND OR IF IT IS BELOW FREEZING!

These trails are steep and will get icy in the wintertime. The beginning of the steepest section often has water running down it so it will be very DANGEROUS in winter.

Please park where indicated by the waypoint. It may appear that you can drive further, but beyond the gate is for Scouters only. Bending this rule may cause us to have to remove this cache. Thank you!
